About

Me

I’m a web designer/developer located near Phoenix, AZ. As a member of a small technology and process solutions team, I supports the Corporate Social Responsibility, Government Affairs, and Public Relations teams at Apollo Group, Inc. My primary focus is to enable collaboration, business process management, and content management using the SharePoint platform. I specialize in developing innovative solutions that go beyond the out-of-the-box capabilities of the platform using jQuery, XSLT, and other tools in the “middle tier.” In addition to this role, I also develop custom websites and plugins for WordPress. In all of my projects I emphasize the user-experience, promote modern web standards, and leverage the latest technologies available.

In addition to my personal blog, I have contributed to NothingButSharePoint.com and SharePoint Magazine. You can follow me on Twitter @joshmcrty.

When I’m not knee-deep in code, I enjoy catching up on the latest tech news, sharpening the saw on new web design/development trends and techniques, and playing PC games.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Ferris State University.

This Website

JoshMcCarty.com is my personal blog. I started it as a way to document my own technology projects and triumphs so I didn’t have to re-learn how to do them in the future. It still serves that purpose, but I also write with an eye toward providing general information for others, not just myself.

I don’t intend to focus on any one particular area of technology; if it’s cool and I think it could be useful for others, I write about it. Hopefully there is something here that is useful or interesting to you.

Thanks for reading!
